Often this question is raised among women devotees. In my opinion YES they can very well chant. I have clarified this question in my discourse itself. Yet let me tell you more. AUM itself Parasakthi and this Para Sakthi (Para Brahman) has revealed to us as a woman. Therefore, where is the question of not calling her in her original name AUM? When you chant AUM three chakras get activated quickly Mooladharam (A)-Anahatha (U)-Agna (M). When these chakras are in full swing the women will lose interest in family life. Thereafter, you can imagine what will be the situation at home. Therefore, the selfish man decided that women should not chant AUM. There are millions of women chanting OM attained Brahmapadham. Infact OM is all mantras, without chanting OM if you pronounce the Mantra it has no meaning. For example, Sri Maha Ganapathy is Brahman only when you say Om Ganapathaye Nama likewise all Gods. AUM is XYZ God not otherwise! Hence, please do not hesitate to chant AUM. There is only one Mantra we had in this Universe that is AUM.
